How to Change Port Name on Brocade Switches Using CLI
Login into switch Command line interface using Putty
CMD:
portname <slot>/<portnumber> -n <PortName>
Ex: if you want to rename the portname on blade 1 port 1
I don't know if it applies to all Brocades, but on the MLX, the command "portname" is not recognized. Per CLI ?, I used "port-name". The "-n" was not required.
Thank you! I was using the "-n" parm on portname and was tearing my hair out!! Thanks for this page. I am setting up a lab with 15 year-old IBM SAN-16B fiber switches (internally they are a Brocade 300).
